Baeyer-Fischer Synthesis
Urea reacts with malonic acid gives barbituric acid followed by reaction with nitrous acid gives violuric acid. Violuric acid now reacts with NH4SH gives uramil which reacts with KNCO in water to form pseudo uric acid which contain one water molecule more than uric acid. Pseudo uric acid is converted into uric acid by fusion with anhydrous oxalic acid.Traube's Synthesis
