Ozonolysis of Alkenes

Alkenes when treated with ozone followed by mild reducing agent(i.e. DMS or Zn), produce carbonyl compounds. However, when an oxidizing agent like hydrogen peroxide is use in place of mild reducing agent carboxylic acid is produced.
