Green Synthesis: Adipic Acid and Catechol From D-Glucose
Green synthesis of adipic acid, and catechol has been developed by John W. Frost and Karen M. Draths starting with glucose and using a biocatalyst (genetically altered E. coli bacteria).
The above reaction can be used to stop at either catechol stage or at the adipic acid stage by using another genetically altered E. coli.
