Synthesis of Chloroquine


Synthesis of Chloroquine Chloroquine is an aminoquininoline derivative and is a class of antimalarial drug. Molecular weight and melting point of chloroquine is 319.9g/mol and 87°C respectively. It is white to slightly yellow crystalline powder and is very slightly soluble in water. Number of chiral center is one. Chloroquine is used for the prevention and treatment of malaria, it is also useful in treatment of corona virus infection.


Chloroquine Synthesis

Chloroquine can be synthesized by reaction of 4,7-dichloroquinoline with 4-diethylamino-1-methylbutylamine at 180°C.
