Schmidt Reaction, Mechanism and Applications

Carboxylic acid and Hydrazoic acid react in the presence of sulfuric acid gives amines. This reaction is known as Schmidt Reaction.
Schmidt reaction also occurs between aldehydes or ketones with hydrazoic acid. With aldehydes give mixture of nitriles and N-formyl derivatives and with ketones give substituted amides. Schmidt Reaction
