Characteristics of a Second Order Reaction

The followings are the main characteristics of second order kinetics-
1. The unit of rate constant contains the reciprocal of the unit of concentration.
2. The half life period is inversely proportional to initial concentration of the reactant.
3. If one of the reactant is present in large excess in case of initial concentrations are different, then 'x' and 'b' can be igmored. Since 'a' is remains constant throughout the reaction so the second order kinetics becomes first order kinetics.
4. Since t = 1/K(a-x) − 1/Ka
The plot t vs 1/(a-x) will be straight line having slope = 1/K.
