Heterocyclic compounds are those cyclic compounds in which one or more ring carbon atom(s) is/are replaced by other atoms. The other atom(s) in ring is reffered to as hetero atom(s). The most common hetero atoms are Nitrogen, Sulfur or Oxygen but other atoms such as Boron, Phosphorous or Silicon also be the hetero atom.
